The Remnant
Church began in the La Grange living room of Dennis and Jan
Hill. In the summer of 1996, the Hill's began praying with
others in their living room every Saturday evening. By the
fall of 1996, Saturday prayer grew to a Wednesday night Bible
study, still in their living room, that included many youth.
In fact, so many young people attended Wednesday nights that
"Coach" Hill decided a building was needed, and a Church was
birthed.
Coach Hill was
ordained as Pastor Dennis Hill in 1997. That same year,
the Remnant Church was opened in the Riverside Shopping Center
west of downtown La Grange. Two years later, in 1999, Pastor
Hill and the Church bought 5 acres of land on Cedar Creek Drive
as well as the children's building, which was already on the
property. The year 2002 brought progress and promise for
the new Remnant Church land which included the purchase of an
additional brand-new children's Church building allowing the
children's ministry to grow. In late 2002, ground was
broken for the new Remnant sanctuary.
In The Remnant's
seventh year, the church's main sanctuary was completed on June
15, 2003. The Remnant Church is located at 2010 Von Minden
Road in La Grange. The church campus also includes a
covered Pavilion and a Christian Preschool/Daycare. Future
plans for The Remnant include a Children's Educational Building.
Our purpose is
best declared in Luke 4:18, which says, "The Spirit of the Lord
is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to
the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach
deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the
blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised."
The vision of The
Remnant Church is to be a truth center in Fayette County because
of John 8:31-32, "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed
on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples
indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make
you free." |
